***PLOT SUMMARY***

The book starts with the main character Terry working on his boat "The Following Sea" when Gracelia Rivers stepped onto his boat and asked him to investigate the unsolved murder of her sister, Gloria Torres in a 711 convenient store robbery. At first Terry is reluctant to help her because of his recent heart transplant but when Gracelia tells him that his heart came from her sister Terry feels that he is bound by his new heart to solve Gloria's murder. Terry goes on the trial investigating the evidence when he realizes that it is linked to two other seemingly unrelated murders, the murder of John ?????? and ????????. Terry realizes that the link between the cases is the patients blood work, hence the title of the book. The book ends when Terry finds out that the killer was his eye witness in John???????'s murder, James Noone who when his fingerprints are taken off of a lamp he helped Terry change while he was being hypnotized to see if he could remember any details from the murder he turns out to be Daniel Crimmins. Terry drives to the address for that name and it turns out to be a garage in an industrial part of town. The book's ending begins when Terry enters the garage and sees that there is a cot, a desk and a computer that is turned on. Terry goes up to the desk, sits down in the chair and opens the desk drawer in it he finds surveillence files on Gloria Torres and the other two people murdered also he finds files on all of the Code Killer's victims just then Terry realizes that Daniel Crimmins is the Code Killer. He types in the code from the killer into the computer and a file with Terry's name comes on the screen Terry reads it and it explains that the killer killed those people to get a heart for Terry as a lasting way of "getting off" on his power. That is really when the book ends because the climax is over. The rest of the falling action in the book is when the killer kidnapps Gracelia and Raymond and takes them to Mexico and buries them in a well. Terry finds and confronts the killer and ends up killing him then he goes and rescues Gracelia and Raymond who were in an old septci tank. Then they live happily ever after and Terry takes them all on a boat trip.
